Pedestrian/Sidewalk Loads

LRFD Art. 3.6.1.6 specifies a pedestrian load of 0.075 ksf (3.6 x 10-3 MPa) shall be applied to all sidewalks wider than 2.0 ft (600 mm) and considered simultaneously with the live load. If you want to use pedestrian loads, select the Include Pedestrian Load checkbox on the Loads tab and input the appropriate magnitude in the textbox. The load is analyzed in the same manner as a lane load, loading only those parts of the bridge that would cause a maximum moment or shear at each section.

Note: The pedestrian load entered by the user should be the total load. Precast/Prestressed Girder will distribute this total load to each beam by the tributary width factor.
